Isabella is 3 months old today. I can’t believe it to be honest. It’s been the longest and shortest 3 months of my life, but I’ve loved every second of it. I’ve learned so much during this time. One of the things I tried to prepare for ahead of time, was what products to use on her. Some of them worked, but I had to do a lot of experimentation to figure out what she liked best and was up to my clean and toxin-free standards. I ended up wasting a ton of money on unused products so I figured I would round up the best of the best so you can avoid the same fate. I use these products every day on Isabella and her sensitive skin loves them.
California Baby Calming Shampoo & Bodywash
I’m sure a lot of people will think I’m crazy, but I give Isabella a bath every night. It’s her way of knowing that it’s time for bed. We fill the tub with warm water and she gets to splash around for a little bit. It’s one of our favorite times of day. Isabella relaxes and plays and I get to watch her learn and explore. I like the California Baby Body Wash because it doubles as a shampoo (I wash her hair once or twice a week). It’s GMO, Triclosan, SLS, and sulfate free. It’s all-plant based ingredients and super gentle. Plus, I love the way it smells.
Wild Carrot Goo Goo Baby Bum Balm
I use my Mansur Gabriel bag as my every day bag because I can carry diapers, wipes, and this Wild Carrot Balm around with me wherever I go (without lugging around a bulky diaper bag). The balm is super compact and it’s made with such great ingredients. It prevents and treats diaper rash and is made with olive oil, calendula, and chamomile. The pot is too small to use all day, every day, but it’s great for travel.
Erbaviva Cradle Cap Oil
Isabella got a little cradle cap (flaky skin on her scalp kinda like dandruff) about 3 weeks after she was born. I didn’t know what to do, and it wasn’t that bad so I just left it alone. If I were to do it again, I would have this Erbaviva oil on hand. It’s infused with lemon eucalyptus, a natural anti-fungal, and vitamin E and rosemary, natural antioxidants, in a healing base of organic almond and safflower seed oils. When you massage it on just make sure that you avoid the soft spot on the babies head, the fontanelle.

Baby Organics Non-Petroleum Soothing Protective Ointment
The first thing that people will tell you to buy for your baby is A+D cream. It thick and smooth and it protects your baby’s butt in the diaper from getting a rash. It works great but it’s far from clean. I searched for a long time to find one that was both practical and safe. This one from Baby Organics is non-petroleum, but still keeps the moisture out. Plus, it feels great. I even rub any excess on my elbows (if I could insert a crying laughing emoji here, I would).
Zoe Organics Nipple Balm
The Zoe Organics Balm is the best. Nobody tell you that breastfeeding is terribly painful and it’s quite possibly the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Your nipples are sore, chaffed, and often times bleeding at the beginning. This cream is a life safer. It’s totally safe and really makes a difference when applied in-between feedings. I also got these silver healing shields which I liked a lot too since they protect your nipples from your bra while healing them as well.
Joonya Baby Wipes
Before I had a baby I was certain I was going to use cloth diapers and wipes in my attempt to save the planet. That fantasy quickly went out the window when I realize how hard it is to even find time to wash your own face let alone poo-filled cloth diapers. So, I figure the next best thing is biodegradable diapers and wipes. I use these bamboo diapers and Joonya Wipes. They are infused with Aloe Vera, Camomile, and Jojoba Oil – and totally non toxic. An added benefit is there chic packaging!
Osmia Lip Doctor
Since it’s winter I want to keep Isabella’s lips protected as much as possible. I use Osmia’s Lip Doctor, simply rubbing a little bit just out of the tube. When I was pregnant Sarah (the Founder of Osmia) sent me a care package that was totally safe for both me and the baby, and this was in it. When I looked at the ingredients I loved that a) it only has 6 ingredients and b) it’s free from essential oils (a big no no for babies). The olive oil, cocoa butter, beeswax and argan oil are so super moisturizing that I’ve just ordered one for myself.
