The other day our in-house Millennial, Kendall, came into the office with the coolest eyeliner on. What made it so good was that she paired it with clear, beautiful skin, and minimal products. Obviously, we had to do a tutorial. The key she explains is that “the whole look shouldn’t be natural looking.” Case in point, she finishes the look with a holographic highlighter. As we said before, so good. Get the steps below.
Millennial MakeupFresh skin and Cool Liner with Clean Beauty
“The first step to creating a look is finding inspiration. I get mine from friends, Pinterest, and photos I save on Instagram. The graphic eyeliner was something I saw in a photo years ago, and have been doing ever since. I added the holographic highlighter just for a fun and expressive pop of color. Oh! and check out the eyeliner looks featured in our Graphic Liner story to make the look your own.” – Kendall
“I always starts with good skincare. Healthy skin is key. To make sure my skin looked fresh and dewy, I sprayed it with the French Girl Organics Floral Toner. It balances the PH of my skin is a great refresher throughout the day.” – Kendall
“I added a light layer of Alima Pure Silk Foundation all over my skin and Alima Pure Cream Concealer just under the eyes to diminish any sleepy circles (I tend to stay up too late). To prevent caking, I sprayed my Beauty Blender with the French Girl Organics Floral Toner before dipping it into the creams. The result is a super light, natural finish.” – Kendall
“Doing my eyes is always the most fun, but usually the most difficult, so don’t be afraid to remove and try again like I had to do. I used the W3ll People Expressionist Liner because it’s my favorite clean liquid eyeliner. My tips: stay close to the lash line, go slow, and add a small wing at the end to extend the eye-line. Once the top is perfect and the wings are even, add a small dot of eyeliner at center of the lash line, right under the eye. I advise you do the dot in one go rather than start small and try to make it bigger. If you do that it ends up uneven and misshapen – not good. Experiment with what size dot you like best.
Curl the lashes and move on from the eyes. The eyeliner always ends up coating the lashes a bit, but leave the lashes plain, no mascara, otherwise, you risk looking too ‘done’, which is very un-Millennial.” – Kendall
“Gloss the lips with a clear chapstick, I like Olio E Osso Balm in No. 2 because it works well and the packaging is super cool. It’s also a great highlighter, cuticle treatment, or eyebrow wax. Press your lips together to bring out the natural color of your lips.” – Kendall
“To amp up the look for a night out, use a fun highlighter, like the Ritual De Fille Rare Light Luminizer in Lunis. This brand makes everything from holographic highlighter to green lipstick, and it’s all clean! The blue in this highlighter is just subtle enough to pull off at a dinner party or work event. Layer it even more if you’re going to a music festival or party.” – Kendall
“Finish with the hair. Mine is long and naturally wavy, but I like to enhance the wave with a sea salt spray. Captain Blankenship’s Golden Waves Sea Salt Spray is super cool because it brings out my waves, and adds a golden shimmery dimension to my hair because it’s infused with gold mica powder.” – Kendall
